Discovering New Potential for Bible and Biblical Resource Distribution
Anne is a resource specialist with a Bible Society. She works on crisis materials. She needs to create resources for kids and families in the tsunami "last week." They need to be in the local languages (14 are broadcast by three ministries over three continents alone). They have 235 languages in scripture portions over the Tsunami area as well. There are also 5 armed conflict areas covered by the Tsunami. They need to start receiving materials for the first responders to use in the next 48 hours.
First, key word or situation searches are used to develop generic scripture resource portions in all 235 languages (Fear, anxiety, help in times of trouble, the peace of God, etc.), and these are sent to the area teams. The first feed is digitized word files. Many are diglots with the national and local languages. As English speaking responders reach the areas, diglot versions with English are created.
Next, audio is available as Anne receives audio files from the areas in question. Local, on the ground teams, after creating audio and video versions of the portions, start interviewing groups of survivors and caregivers. These interviews focus on specific issues. These results are developed by Anne into curriculum frameworks, in consult with specialists in trauma, counseling, recovery, missiology, whatever is needed. These frameworks are sent back to the teams on the ground who flesh them out and create word documents, audio and video. Some of the audio is pretty much a translation of the material Anne sent out. Other teams have taken the frameworks and created original material. For instance, one group has written and produced the initial programs of a children's series in Sundanese with real children - 7 school friends, some of whom are orphaned. It will be broadcast weekly. By week three, Anne has a repository full of resources in document, audio and video in half of the languages.
As the internet connections become more stable, each of the language groups begin their own communities and repositories. Anne is now ready for the next crisis.Imagine the possibilities in your world!
